The Opportunity

This will be an opportunity to work on the ISA (Infrastructure Strategic Alliance) contract to clean up and decommission Europe\xe2\x80\x99s most complex nuclear site. The ISA is designed to augment the current Sellafield Ltd capability to deliver a programme management and project delivery service for all infrastructure assets, primarily targeted at utility assets. Arup in joint venture with Morgan Sindall are bringing best practice from other utilities and infrastructure programmes, with an emphasis on risk reduction and innovation in scheduling and technical processes. Working collaboratively with major partners, Arup is supporting Sellafield Ltd to deliver greater quality more efficiently \xe2\x80\x93 while assuring industry leading safety performance.

Is this role right for you?

We have an opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer who is looking for technically stimulating work on one of Europe\xe2\x80\x99s most challenging engineering sites to join our established ISA CE&I Engineering delivery Team.

You will be a key part of the CE&I team delivery team, responsible for producing Single Line Diagrams, Load schedules, Cable Calculations and General Arrangements as well as developing Outline Installation Method Statements . Your role will involve working with Mechanical and Civil Engineers in a fantastic team with a myriad of opportunities to apply your knowledge and expertise to a range of exciting projects.

You will be a key team member, delivering infrastructure projects of various sizes, taking an active role in successful project delivery. You will be involved all project stages including feasibility, full design duties and site stage activities of major and minor projects (new and refurbishment).

You will report to the CE&I Responsible Engineer who will ask you to deliver small packages of work in line with the overall project goals. This work will require you to work closely and establish strong working relationships with our Alliance partners and the infrastructure teams across the sub-region.

Regular visits to the Liverpool, Whitehaven, Manchester and Client offices in Warrington to delivery our work and carry out design reviews, attend meetings, etc. will be expected.

Ideally we would like you to be based in our Leeds / Manchester or Whitehaven offices.

We are seeking a demonstrable track record of successful delivery within an electrical and / or control & instrumentation engineering role/environment including:

  • MV / LV power design and distribution
  • Building services systems including fire alarm, security, lighting design, lightning protection, earthing etc
  • Control & Instrumentation systems
  • A clear understanding of, or experience within a client facing & construction environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant design tools, techniques and related methods, e.g. IT systems, BIM, thermal/energy analysis, calculations packages, etc.
Ideally you will be Masters Qualified and working towards chartership.

Experience of working in a wide variety of sectors, infrastructure & nuclear would be advantageous along with knowledge of BS 7671 and also CDM regulations.

AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech & other digital design packages knowledge & skills will be beneficial in this role.

Security

Holding a P4/P1 pass and BPSS/SC clearance will be a distinct advantage, otherwise the role holder will be required to obtain the following clearances:
  • Basic Clearance (BPSS)
  • P4/P1 Pass
  • Scottish Disclosure or equivalent as defined by Sellafield Ltd.
