The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing, testing, maintaining, and improving electrical systems and equipment. The role includes troubleshooting electrical issues, ensuring compliance with UK safety standards, and supporting engineering projects from planning to execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain electrical systems and components
Inspect and test electrical equipment to ensure proper functionality
Diagnose faults and perform repairs on electrical installations
Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports
Ensure all electrical work meets UK safety regulations and industry standards
Assist in project planning, budgeting, and implementation
Conduct regular maintenance and preventive checks on electrical systems
Collaborate with mechanical engineers, technicians, and project managers
Support installation of new machinery and electrical infrastructure
Use testing tools such as mustimeters, circuit testers, and diagnostic equipment
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of electrical systems and engineering principles
Ability to read and create electrical diagrams and schematics
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Attention to detail and safety-focused mindset
Experience with electrical testing tools and software
Time management and ability to meet project deadlines
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent)
Relevant certifications (optional but preferred):
ECS/CSCS Card
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
Electrical Installation or Maintenance Certification
Minimum 1-3 years' experience in electrical engineering or related field (preferred)
