We are seeking a highly skilled

Forensic Electrical Engineer

to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, coupled with experience in forensic investigations. In this role, you will be responsible for analysing electrical failures, accidents, and incidents, preparing detailed reports, and providing expert testimony when required.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough investigations into electrical failures, equipment malfunctions, fires, shocks, accidents, and other incidents involving electrical systems and components. Perform on-site inspections, collect and preserve evidence, and document findings through detailed notes, photographs, and diagrams. Analyse electrical systems, wiring, circuitry, and components to identify failure modes, contributing factors, and root causes. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of forensic experts, including mechanical engineers, fire investigators, and legal professionals, to provide comprehensive analyses. Prepare clear and concise forensic reports that include technical analysis, data interpretation, and visual documentation to support legal and insurance claims. Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings as required, explaining complex concepts in an understandable manner. Stay current with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to electrical systems, safety, and compliance. Travel to incident sites and client meetings as necessary.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. CEng with IET preferred, or a willingness to work towards Chartered status. Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 2 years in forensic investigations, failure analysis, or related fields. In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, control systems, and fault analysis techniques. Familiarity with electrical safety standards, wiring regulations (BS 7671), and relevant codes. Experience with forensic tools and methodologies, such as circuit analysis, fault modelling, and data logging. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed investigations and interpret complex data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, well-structured reports. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Willingness to travel, sometimes on short notice, including overnight and overseas trips.
