a leader in railway engineering, are looking for an Electrical Engineer/Panel Wirer to join our ever-growing team to help support the overhaul of On Track Machines (OTMs) at our Worksop Depot.
MAIN PURPOSE:
To Overhaul electrical systems on low/medium voltage machinery, including rewiring of control cabinets, PLC's and electrical switch gear. Previous experience of installing steel conduit, trunking and other types of cable protection advantageous.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure that the risks to the Health and Safety of yourself, fellow Employees, Contractors and third parties are systematically managed to as low as is reasonably practicable. Comply with all Health and Safety legislation and approved codes of practice.
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Previous experience in working on 24vdc electrical control gear associated with heavy plant and equipment including PLC's
Overhauling of heavy plant machinery installing new trunking and conduit, running extensive multi core cables and terminating in control boxes
Confident user of basic hand tools and test equipment
Able to read and interpret electrical schematics
IT literate
Formal qualification in electrical engineering
Fitting and assembling complex special purpose machinery for a wide range of clientele
Testing, fault finding stripping down to component level and correcting any mechanical issues during assembly of specialist equipment
Minimum of 3 years experience working in similar role
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a high standard of work in previous positions.
They should also be prepared to work some overtime to make sure that deadlines are met.
The successful should hold have a clean UK licence and own a comprehensive
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:
1. KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge heavy plant electrical systems
Working to tight tolerances, accurately and efficiently making any necessary adjustments
PLC wiring and control cabinets
NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Electrical engineering or related discipline
Current IEE wiring regulations advantageous
2. SKILLS/ABILITIES
Experience of on track plant machinery preferable but not essential
Assess and evaluate rotating machines
Test components
Measuring
Diagnosing reasons for failure
Dismantling and assembly techniques
Rewiring of control cabinets and PLC's
Knowledge of Railway machinery advantageous
3. EXPERIENCE
Experience in heavy engineering or similar environment required.
Minimum of 3 years' experience working in similar role.
NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Electrical engineering or related discipline.
