The successful candidate will be welcomed in the Display and Head-Up Display (HUD) Products Squad, a small team of diverse and passionate engineers (part of User Controls within the Digital Product Platform), dedicated to delivery of our next generation, cutting edge display technologies that fulfil the modern luxury brief. This includes centre display, instrument clusters, Head-Up display, rear entertainment systems and any other display application.

Within this team, the successful candidate will work alongside the HUD Lead Engineer to define, develop, and launch HUD products for JLR\'s flagship vehicle lines. You will work closely with suppliers and internal JLR stakeholders to develop best in class products. Experience/knowledge of HUD optical and mechanical design is preferred, although there is opportunity to develop skills within the role.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Initial HUD optical concept design to meet business requirements.
  • Working with stakeholders to ensure interfacing systems are designed to support the integration of HUD.
  • Packaging and 3D modelling activities.
  • Engaging with suppliers and technology partners to refine designs.
  • Staying abreast of HUD technology developments and future trends.
  • Support the planning, co-ordination, delivery and reporting of requirements to support programmes and Cycle Plan studies, using our Product Creation Delivery System (PCDS) in conjunction with Agile methodologies.
  • Support Issue Management and Triage during product launch phases.
  • Ensure all appropriate JLR standards are met throughout design maturation.
  • Manage design verification test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off and support Engineering test teams with rectification of issues.
  • Work with Supplier teams to develop fix & resolution plans for hardware issues.
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED

In order to be considered for this position it is advantageous to hold a formal qualification such as Degree within Engineering or suitable experience delivering electronic products in the automotive environment.

The successful candidate needs to have experience in CAE methodologies and creating correlation to validate designs; experience using SPEOS/Zemax to create HUD optical designs and proficient knowledge of CAD tools (e.g., CATIA).

Desirable
  • Ability to generate and interpret thermal CAE analysis.
  • Experience in developing and delivering automotive electronic products.
  • Familiarity with JLR Delivery processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of display and projector technologies.
  • Knowledge of hardware development.
