Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Electrical Improver/Mate to join our team on a large housing project in Southsea, Portsmouth. This is a full time position with option of being on the books or subcontractor. Potentially up to 18 months work. Must have valid ESC/CSCS card. Rate of pay will depend on experience.

Responsibilities

Assist electricians with the installation of wiring, sockets, lighting, consumer units, and other domestic electrical systems. Support in fault finding, testing, and commissioning under supervision. Carry out basic electrical tasks such as cable pulling, trunking, conduit installation, and containment work. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and site-specific requirements. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and tidy condition. Follow instructions from supervisors and qualified electricians to deliver work to required standards. Develop knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and Part P requirements for domestic work. Liaise with other trades on-site to ensure smooth project progress.

Experience

Current ECS card (Electrical Labourer or Improver level). Relevant electrical qualifications (such as Level 2 or working towards NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation). Basic understanding of electrical systems and domestic installations. Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team. Good practical skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn. Awareness of health and safety procedures on construction sites
