Astutes Power Team are working exclusively with Marchwood Power Limited who own & operate the Marchwood Gas Fired Power Station in Southampton. This plant is able to produce 900MW of Power in a Combined Cycle configuration.
The Electrical Technician position is an integral role within the Maintenance department responsible for the short and long term maintenance on all electrical assets as well as supporting on projects & outages.
This excellent opportunity offers an attractive salary up to 55,900 per year plus overtime opportunity, bonus and full benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties of the Electrical Technician role:
Reporting directly to the Electrical Engineer as an Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out pre-planned and reactive maintenance on electrical assets including motors, transformers, switchgear, drives and HV/LV plant
  • Ensuring maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely and within environmental parameters of the power station
  • Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
  • Assisting in plant developments and projects
  • Supervising and setting to work on site contractors
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site CMMS
  • Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination

Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
  • A recognised electrical engineering apprenticeship ideally gained in a heavy process industry e.g. power station, pharmaceutical plant, steels works, paper mill, manufacturing etc.
  • An HNC / ONC or equivalent in electrical engineering would be advantageous
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulation
  • HV Authorised Person status or High Voltage experience would be advantageous
Personal skills
The Electrical Technician role would suit someone who has:
  • Extensive knowledge and hands on experience maintaining electrical plant including motors, switchgear, transformers, drives
  • Practical knowledge of maintenance procedures and processes associated with heavy process industries
  • Ability to carry out LV and HV isolations
  • HV experience would be advantageous
  • Competent in reading / interpreting and updating electrical drawingss
  • Competent with Permit to Work systems
