About the Role




This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated Electrical Services Manager to join the Estates Services Department within the Facilities Management Team. You will become part of a dedicated and passionate Estates Team, committed to delivering safe, compliant, and sustainable estates. The team fosters a strong sense of unity, collaboration, and shared purpose.


In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the University's electrical systems and infrastructure, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and compliance. Your work will directly support the health, safety, and wellbeing of students, staff, and visitors, while providing assurance that the University fully meets its legal and statutory obligations in relation to electrical and building maintenance compliance.


As a senior technical leader within Estate Services, you will:

Lead the delivery and implementation of the University's maintenance strategy, contributing to long-term strategic planning. Ensure all buildings and facilities are safe, accessible, and compliant with current legislation and best practice. You will take primary responsibility for contract management of external service providers, ensuring maintenance-related contracts deliver high-quality outcomes and represent Value for Money. This includes overseeing contractor performance, compliance, and service standards across a range of specialist services. Act as the subject matter expert for electrical services, providing robust technical support to the in-house maintenance team. Serve as a senior advisor to the Head of Estates Management, particularly in response to changes in legislation, compliance requirements, and industry standards.

In addition to contractor oversight, you will provide strong line management and leadership to the internal maintenance team, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.


As the Technical Expert for electrical infrastructure, you will advise on the implications of legislative changes and ensure full compliance across all electrical systems and installations.
