Electrical Technician - Off-Highway Plant


19-21 per hour (41,990-46,410 per year)



Rail-Ability Ltd (www.railability.co.uk) is an award-winning business with a worldwide customer base that designs, manufactures and converts specialist railway equipment, including MEWPs, tracked dozers, excavators, lorries, and a wide range of attachments. We are looking for a skilled Electrical Technician - Off Highway Plant, to help build and enhance the next generation of our machinery.

What You'll Be Doing - A varied range of hands-on technical auto-electrical work, including:



Building wiring harnesses according to manufacturing documentation. Building electrical sub-assemblies using a variety of tools according to manufacturing documentation. Termination of connections to a high standard. Installation of components using various mounting methods, including drilling, and tapping. Installation of cables and harnesses on machines. Building and wiring of control boxes. Installation of controller harnesses, fitment of DIN connectors and fuses. Marking out and drilling of enclosures. Fault finding and rectification of control systems. Accurate documenting of new installations. Manually fitting lightweight components. Fitting heavier components with mechanical aids/ cranes. Perform tasks in varied environments, mostly workshop/ bench based. However, elements of working outside, working at height and / or in restricted access spaces will be required. Assist in whole machine testing of electrical systems and sub-components. Assist in producing technical build documentation for electrical systems. Identify and communicate engineering change requirements for electrical systems. Perform quality control inspections on production machines. Demonstrate good housekeeping skills to maintain a clean, organised and hazard-free work area. Compliance with all applicable quality processes and the company's quality management system to maintain traceability and effective working methods.

What We're Looking For



HNC/HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) A working understanding of electrical engineering Minimum 3 years' experience in electrical/electronic manufacturing or relevant area Practical knowledge of electrical components, wiring systems and control-panel construction. Confident reading and interpreting electrical schematics, GA drawings and BOMs. Good IT skills, including office software, CAD software, and diagnostic tools. Solid knowledge of 12V and 24V electrical systems Able to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure products meet the design specification. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to use initiative. Able to maintain accurate records in line with procedures.

What We Offer



Competitive pay: 19-21 per hour (depending on experience) Overtime available 28 days' holiday to start, with up to 10 extra paid days available through flexitime and long-service accrual 42.5-hour working week: Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm, but flexitime available. Discounts at partnered restaurants
