We're looking for an
Electrical Terminal Technician - SAP
with a passion for high voltage systems and a drive to work on critical infrastructure. If you have experience in HV switching operations, creating switching schedules, and Senior Authorised Person (SAP) duties, we want to hear from you.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you'll be part of a team maintaining and operating some of the most advanced electrical assets in the energy sector.
The role is based on site at the Isle of Grain, so due to the location, you will require a full UK driving licence.
What you'll do
You'll carry out a wide range of electrical maintenance and operational tasks across a diverse and dynamic site, including:
Switchgear and breaker maintenance
HV/LV motor maintenance
Transformer maintenance
Compressor and generator maintenance
Protection testing
Switching preparedness and operation
Fault finding and condition monitoring
Hazardous area inspections
You'll also:
Lead and support HV switching operations, including the creation and execution of switching schedules
Carry out electrical isolations and act as site contact under the terminal permit system
Provide technical standby cover and emergency response readiness in line with EIMS requirements
Monitor contractor performance and ensure safe, timely, and high-quality delivery of services
Support the design, construction, and commissioning of new assets, including upgrades and minor modifications
Contribute to the development and review of emergency, safety, operational, and environmental procedures
This is a rare opportunity to work on a site of this scale and complexity. You'll be exposed to a huge variety of equipment and systems--and we'll provide full training to help you grow into the role, including GLNG SAP authorisation.
What you'll need
Hands-on experience with HV switching operations, switching schedules, and SAP responsibilities preferred
Practical knowledge of electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, generators, and motors
In-depth understanding of electrical systems from 24V up to 11kV
Experience in electrical protection testing and commissioning (desirable)
Ability to interpret electrical schematics and write ISSOW safety documentation
Familiarity with COMAH regulations, hazardous areas and safety protocols on top-tier sites
Environmental awareness and emergency response capability
Strong planning, communication, and contractor management skills
Relevant qualifications: HNC in Engineering (or willingness to work towards), NEBOSH/IOSH, COMPEX, or HV Operations Course
