The Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Apprentice will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians to gain hands-on experience in both electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines. This role provides a structured learning path to develop the technical, practical, and problem-solving skills needed to support design, installation, maintenance, and improvement of engineering systems and equipment across various projects.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery.
Support engineers in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control system faults.
Participate in mechanical assembly, wiring, and component integration activities.
Perform basic calculations, measurements, and data analysis to support design or maintenance work.
Support preventive maintenance programs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Learn to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards, electrical codes, and quality requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as production, maintenance, and quality to resolve technical issues.
Qualifications & Skills
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a diploma, degree, City & Guilds or apprenticeship program in
Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering
(or a related field).
Basic understanding of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, and control principles.
Familiarity with CAD design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor).
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Keen attention to detail and strong safety awareness.
Eagerness to learn and develop technical and professional competencies.
