What will be your primary role?
The primary purpose of this position is to lead and work with a crew of military and civilian Electrical System Technicians in the installation, testing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various electrical systems, controls, and equipment.
The successful applicant will be responsible for leading electricians and installing, repairing or replacing, modifying, loading and testing new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers and controls located in and near installation buildings, whilst also troubleshooting problem areas and inspecting for defecting equipment and faulty wiring. You will use and maintain various types of hand and/or power tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines, You will also be responsible for utilizing safety practices and procedures and following established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Qualification requirements:
NVQ Level 3 electrical technical qualification
18th edition IET wiring regulations
Knowledge of and experience working on motors, controls and operations of boiler systems is desired. Applicant must be willing to attain certification after accepting the position.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?
Knowledge of and experience applying safety regulations, practices and procedures.
Knowledge of and experience performing technical practices in order to plan, lay out, install, modify, troubleshoot and repair a variety of complete systems.
Knowledge of and experience in applying electrical and electronic theory and instruments used in shop and trade practices, and of electrical equipment, i.e. test lamps, multi-meters, circuit analyses, circuit breaker testers, voltage recording meters, meggers, watt meters, ohmmeters and ammeters.
Skill in using and maintaining hand tolls, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, strippers, cable pullers, drills, soldering irons, and manual power conduit benders and threaders.
Skill in troubleshooting and tracing hard-to-locate defects and problems.
Ability to install, modify, test, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain high voltage electrical power-controlling equipment and/or distribution lines without more than normal supervision.
Knowledge of and experience working on motors, controls, and operations of boiler systems is recommended, but not essential. Applicant must be willing to attain certification after accepting the position.

You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Your hours of work will be 39.00 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Mon-Fri 0800-1630) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.
This position requires a pre-employment physical to include the ability to discern colors, contrast and depth.
Position requires operation of general/specific purpose US/UK vehicles (e.g High Reach and/or Bucket Truck) Training will be provided if required. You must be in possession of a full UK category B driving license, and will also be required to hold and maintain a valid RAF flight line driving license.
You will be required to wear protective clothing and gear.
You will be required to attend job related training (may include but not limited to CPR, First Aid, Material Handling, Motor and Control Circuit Principles).
You will also be required to successfully complete in-house system familiarization and pass review with DIO Authorized person (Electrical) to gain Skill Person certification.
