Core responsibilities

Installation

: Install electrical systems, wiring, control panels, and lighting, often based on technical drawings and schematics.

Testing and inspection: Test and inspect electrical systems to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, including fault finding and commissioning.

Repairs: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical faults and breakdowns.

Safety and compliance: Ensure all work is carried out to the highest safety standards, including following health and safety procedures and often using personal protective equipment (PPE).

Quality control: Conduct quality control checks to ensure all workmanship meets company and industry standards.

Documentation: Prepare work orders and maintain records as required.

Essential qualifications and skills

Qualifications: Typically requires a minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations and the City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

Certifications: A

JIB/ECS Gold Card

is often preferred.

Knowledge: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installation, and maintenance is required, including familiarity with standards like NICEIC.

Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, good hand-eye coordination, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.

Experience: Previous experience on commercial or industrial sites is often a requirement.

Tools: Possess standard and power tools.

Background checks: Require a valid, in-date Enhanced DBS check.

License: A UK driving license is required.

Teamwork: Good communication and the ability to work well as part of a team are essential.
