Salary: 37,556.61 to 42,274.61 per annum (including allowances)

The role


------------


We are seeking a qualified and conscientious electrician to join its Housing Operations Team, with a primary focus on electrical inspection, testing, and statutory compliance. This role is essential in ensuring the safety of residents and the ongoing compliance of the Council's housing stock and property portfolio.


The post holder will be responsible for carrying out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), periodic inspections, fault finding and associated remedial works in accordance with BS 7671 and current electrical safety legislation. You will play a key role in supporting the Council's legal duties under the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), helping to ensure homes are safe, well maintained, and compliant.


Working across occupied domestic properties and communal areas, you will be expected to produce accurate, high-quality certification, clearly identify risks and non-compliances, and communicate findings professionally with management, colleagues, and contractors. The role requires a strong commitment to customer care, attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining electrical safety standards across the borough.


Types of works to be undertaken, but not limited to:


Electrical inspections, completing EICRs
Installation of smoke and heat alarms
Fan installation, commissioning, and certification
Electrical installation works
Full or part re-wire of properties using various types of cable, PVC and steel trunking and conduits
Fault finding
Reactive repairs
Out of Hours service (make safes)

Qualifications and experience




NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) including AM2 end point assessment (or willingness to obtain)
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
2391 or equivalent testing & inspection qualification
Experience working in social housing, domestic properties, and communal areas of blocks
Full UK driving licence
Good understanding of health & safety and safe systems of work
Strong communication and customer service skills
