As the Electrician at Urquhart Castle your primary role will be the responsibility for day-to-day electrical maintenance work on the diverse electrical systems on the site in compliance with current legislation. The team is headed by the District Works Manager and has direct line management responsibilities under their district remit, Highlands South.


This role is eligible to join the Civil Service Pension scheme, which includes a substantial employer contribution.

Key Responsibilities of this role



Maintain electrical services predominately at Urquhart Castle, but will include Fort George and other monuments within the North Region Fire alarm testing, Electrical Installation Condition Reports testing. Upkeep & maintenance of small electrical plant and equipment Throughout your employment with HES, you will be required to attend training courses identified to assist the work, or to comply with health and safety legislation, Including First Aid (training as required, this may require overnight stays away from home). Keeping the working site clean and tidy Procurement of equipment and materials required for maintenance works Basic responsive repairs as requested by visitor operations via the Property Maintenance & Compliance Manager. Utilisation of the Properties in Care Asset management system to identify & record defects, inspections works and completions. This work will, at times, be carried out at height and in relatively confined spaces. Training will be a requirement for these works, such as PASMA Maintaining and ensuring site documentation is up-to-date including electrical reports and fire folders Carry out work in line with regulations and prepare risk assessments/method statements. Risk Management training will be required and provided to ensure works are taken forward in a safe manner Delivery of an effective and courteous service to all service users, fairly and without discrimination. Liaising and supporting the North Facilities Manager & Urquhart's Maintenance & compliance manager with statutory inspections, including contractor access and quality control monitoring Issuing of Minor works completion certificates to the maintenance and compliance manager. Ad hoc responsive maintenance requirements as directed by the Property Maintenance & Compliance Manager.

Essential:



Completed recognised apprenticeship ( SCQF Level 6 ) Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (E.C.S) card Scottish Qualifications Authority (S.Q.A) / Scottish Joint Industry Board (S.J.I.B) / Joint Industry Board (J.I.B) certificates 18th edition I.E.E. regulations Relevant experience including in the use of digital forms & reporting. Experience working as a maintenance electrician. Good all-round understanding and practical experience of electrical industry Experience of having contributed to or supported working together as part of a group of people or a team. Willingness or ability to work outside in sometimes difficult weather conditions.
