Job Description

This position will be working for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service as a an Electrician. The office location is RAF Feltwell.

Essential Job Functions



Works from building plans, electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and layout the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity and proper and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems equipment, and controls. Installs, modifies, repairs, loads and tests secondary electrical distribution lines and circuits used to supply a wide range of voltage, amperage, phase and frequency requirements.

Determines, arranges, places and routes conduits, distribution panels, boxes, circuits, fittings, connections and circuit breakers. Maintains and repairs various electrical systems, including a variety of appliances, lights, electrical drives, alarm and security circuits, clocks, etc. May be required to repair or assist with various types of office equipment.

Locates and diagnoses trouble in electrical cabling, lighting, etc., which may involve the use of a variety of electrical test equipment. Working from electrical drawings and schematic diagrams, prepares labor and material cost estimates, and develops list of materials required for the installation and maintenance of electrical systems.

May be required to assist with carpentry and painting functions requiring a level of skill and responsibility characteristic of work at grade M-9 and below.

May install, maintain, and repair electronic and peripheral equipment, up to 400 V circuits in support of equipment, transformers and distribution panels. Performs preventive maintenance, routine repairs and simple emergency repairs as required.

May maintain/repair conveyor systems to include main switches, relays, stop and start stations and motor drive. Conducts periodic inspections and maintains the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) supporting computer equipment.

May need to operate or use scaffolding or mobile elevated equipment to carry out maintenance on equipment.
Assists with managing FMO projects in planning, design, and assists with reviewing projects for integrity, completeness and conformity with contract requirements. Provides assistance in sizing and ordering equipment for projects. Assists project managers in determining FMO scope of work on projects verses outside sources. May provide advice to project managers and architects on: Feasibility of projects and compatibility with existing utility layouts. Assists with coordinating technical training for equipment technicians. Coordinates proprietary and technical sufficiency from base civil engineers as well as local government approvals and life safety compliance. Complies with applicable directives, policies and procedures.

As required, performs TDY travel of one or more days duration to other Exchange locations. May operate a motor vehicle to transport material and associates, when required. Ensures compliance with fire, safety, sanitation, and security regulations. Initiates work orders for repair and maintenance.

Actively supports and implements applicable EEO laws and programs within the Exchange.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements



Specialized experience: four years specialized experience in electrical work. Must be qualified in the use of power and hand tools of the trade and possess a working knowledge of welding, soldering, and brazing. Must possess a valid automobile operator's license as required by local/state laws or military regulations.

Other: as determined by the supervisor. Any person must meet the Certifications required by the United Kingdom an installation ap and maintain certifications:

CITY & GUILDS 2382 *IET wiring regulations (BS7671) 17th /18th Edition.

(As this is working in the United Kingdom, at an overseas location it will be necessary to be and remain in compliance with current UK requirements installation engineers. This position will be required to stay up-to-date with industry advancements and regulations Continuing Professional Development. Finaly this person will be IAW UK.GOV National Carriers requirement
