Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for 2 Electro-Technical Officers to join us in Portsmouth. As an Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) you will be responsible for monitoring and contributing to the effective maintenance and upkeep of all ship's electrical equipment.

You will be our technical authority on electrical engineering matters and responsible for ensuring that refit specifications or work orders for electrical engineering items comply with company guidance and national legislation. As an ETO you will be a Subject Matter Expert and provide electrical engineering assistance, advice, and guidance to Ships Engineering staff.

What you'll be doing



Assist with general electrical maintenance repair & lead on technical upgrades on ships

Operate plant & equipment, diagnose, and remedy electrical faults and install new external electrical work to specification. This includes but is not limited to: Marine Power, Switchgear, code interpretation on Controls/PLC systems, AC & DC systems up to and including 1000V for marine propulsion

Work in collaboration with the Superintendents to plan and manage contractor works on electrical equipment

Supervise OEM technicians working on Wightlink electrical equipment

Provide support to the Chief Engineers in diagnosis, repair, and maintenance

What we're looking for



Electro-Technical Officer Certificate of Competency (III/6), or a nationally recognised level 3 NVQ in a relevant discipline

Extensive experience in maintenance and commissioning of electrotechnical installations

Diagnosing faults in electrotechnical systems, using appropriate tools and test equipment to identify the cause of the fault and return the installation to safe operational use

Excellent communication skills and ability to foster a collaborative working style
