The Opportunity:
We are looking to recruit an experienced Electromechanical Fitter / Machinist to join our expanding team in Sheffield. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will play a key role in the disassembly, repair, and reassembly of rotating machines, ensuring work is completed to the highest standard and within agreed timescales. This is a varied and hands-on role that will see you working both in-house and on customer sites, supporting projects and emergency works as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, strip, and disassemble rotating machines including AC/DC electric motors
Carry out high-quality repairs with a focus on first-time fix
Undertake basic electrical testing to establish machine condition
Accurately assess and record wear, damage, and repair requirements
Inspect and fit bearings, including white metal bearings
Support balancing activities (experience advantageous)
Prepare and assemble machines ready for test runs in line with QA standards
Produce accurate notes, reports, and paperwork to required deadlines
Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Deliver exceptional levels of customer care and communication
Provide support on site projects and respond to emergency works (including overnight stays when required)
Your Skills and Experiences:
Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering (C&G, NVQ or equivalent)
Previous experience within an electromechanical environment
Hands-on knowledge of rotating equipment, root cause analysis, and precision measuring
Experience with bearing inspection and fitting, including white metal bearings
Ability to use industry equipment correctly and safely during the repair process
Methodical and accurate approach with excellent attention to detail
Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach
Flexibility to travel for short durations to support customer sites
Full UK driving licence (advantageous)
Positive attitude to personal and site safety
