Make a meaningful impact as an Field Monitoring Officer with Serco Workforce Solutions

Join SWS as a Field Monitoring Officer on a fixed-term contract until April 2026, with the potential for extension.


You'll be a crucial member of a dedicated team responsible for installing and decommissioning electronic monitoring equipment in the homes of those subject to electronic monitoring.


This is a frontline role which will require you to enter the homes of those who are completing their sentences outside of prison, with the purpose of installing and calibrating monitoring equipment so they can be detected within the boundaries of their property.



You will be provided with a vehicle for business use only.

What you'll need to succeed

Full UK driving licence Excellent interpersonal and communication skills High standard of English Ability to work flexibly Ability to work well as part of a team Flexibility to travel within shift hours

If you're successful in your application, you'll need to be able to achieve BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance, which we will request on your behalf.

Because of the nature of this role, we're looking for people who are resilient and not easily offended. You'll be particularly well-suited for this role if you've worked in the prison service, security, postal service, social care, or the police forces. Three weeks full induction and training will be given, as well as job shadowing, to ensure you are comfortable in your new role.

Key responsibilities

Install, calibrate, and decommission electronic monitoring equipment Check, clean, and quarantine equipment as necessary Liaise with the control centre to report issues or breaches Show respect to device wearers to support and build confidence in the justice system Maintain accurate paperwork and follow procedures

Work schedule

The shift pattern covers 7 days per week, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.


Core hour schedules are from 9am to 2am including weekend working however please note most shifts will be 5pm to 1am with a 7.5-hour shift.
