Encocam Limited are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Electronic Assembler to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in assembling electronic components, ensuring high-quality production standards. This role is essential in supporting the assembly of various electronic devices, including those with logic controllers and surface mount technology.
Duties
Electronic assembly of development items, such as Instrumentation and Data Acquisition (e.g. soldering)
Mechanical assembly where applicable for development items (e.g. strain gauge bonding and final assembly)
Provide input to concept designs for new products.
Deliver Assembled components to relevant technical drawings and/or specifications.
Testing of prototype including function checks, calibration and in use testing (e.g. Durability testing)
Co-operate fully with the company regarding all H&S matters and be aware of the importance of complying with H&S Policy to ensure a safe workplace and maintain the integrity of the environment (See P-HS-17175).
You may be required to train other colleagues as and when requested.
Any additional work identified as necessary for the smooth operation of the business.
Requirements
Understanding of electronics, all devices are initially analogue, you will need to be fluent in fundamental analogue electronics including for example; potentiometers, gauge bridges, power supplies, the difference between AC, DC and signals etc.
You will need a good understanding of materials and their behaviour when flexed under load (stress/ strain) and how this relates to the adhesion of the measurement device to the material.
Bonding and adhesive methods, a critical factor for the performance of a measurement device is how it is bonded to the sub-strait. You will need to research and implement the most appropriate method according to the application.
As this is a research position you will need the ability to design and produce prototype instruments.
In order to test the suitability of prototypes you will be responsible for designing and implementing testing regimes to determine the devices characteristics and durability.
To manufacture the prototypes, you will need to be skilled at the soldering of components at a miniature level. These solder joints are prone to fail due to high loads so the correct selection of materials (wire, solder etc.) and the methodology of manufacture are critical and your responsibility to establish.
