At Skylark lasers we specialize in the design and manufacture of ultra-low noise narrow linewidth single frequency lasers. Our laser systems are used in manufacturing, spectroscopy, imaging, quantum experimentation, and more. We're seeking a motivated person to join our team and help with the development and production of these cutting-edge systems.
Job Summary
You will be responsible for maintenance of production systems while working in a laboratory environment alongside designing and testing bespoke electronic hardware for our lasers systems. You will work closely with optical, mechanical, and software engineering teams on a day-to-day basis. This role requires a solid understanding of analogue and digital circuit design, embedded systems, and control theory.
Key responsibilities
Maintenance and tracking of production electronic systems
Development of new and novel laser control systems
Schematic capture and PCB design using Altium Designer
Working alongside software engineers to develop firmware on bespoke hardware.
Perform testing and validation on systems to prove that they are fit for purpose.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of analogue and digital design, including op-amps, ADCs, DACs, and microcontrollers.
Experience with embedded systems and control theory.
Hands-on lab skills including soldering, oscilloscope use and circuit debugging. SMD soldering experience would be advantageous.
Excellent communication skills.
HND or higher in electronic engineering or equivalent industrial experience working with complex electronics.
