The role

Due to business expansion, we are looking for an experienced electronics instrumentation and commissioning engineer to join our engineering team based out of Fife, Scotland. You will carry out the tasks of installing and commissioning waveform monitoring devices within 275kV and 400kV electrical substations throughout England & Wales. The role will be based out of our offices in Dalgety Bay, Fife, Scotland working 40 hrs per week Monday to Thursday 0730 to 1800, although this should be viewed as being flexible depending upon our clients availability.

Key Responsibilities

To undertake the administration and configuration of electronic instrumentation, including:

Working from schematic and wiring diagrams to install and commission multi-function recording equipment onto our clients network system. Being able to mark-up such diagrams and return back into the design process. Understand the construction, design and management (CDM) process applied to high voltage substation working. Host factory acceptance testing (FAT) both remotely and in person with our client. Performing on-site installation and commissioning to the point of handover. Fault finding to module level including an understanding of voltage and current transformers. Perform and write up Survey Reports, Risk Assessment & Method Statements. Be able to communicate clearly in English.
Basic requirements

Being able to work as part of a small team is key to all our work. A good understanding of instrumentation when applied to the electrical power industry. Experienced in the use of test equipment such as multi-meters, cable insulation testing and ideally secondary injection testing. Be highly self-motivated, have good organisational skills, cleanliness and punctuality Have good fitness levels being able to assist in erecting scaffolding (PASMA), lifting floor tiles and running steel wire armoured cables. UK driving license Excellent spoken and read English.
Desired requirements Who we are

Skilled in the use of AutoCAD 2D (advanced training can be provided) Working with network devices such as switches, routers, fibre and CAT6 cables. Experience in Microsoft office products such as Excel and Word. Experience in the use of hand power tools such as drills and cutting tools.

What we do

Elisys Engineering designs and builds instrumentation solutions for the UK's electricity transmission network. This includes SCADA and Advanced Monitoring equipment installed for the purpose of wide area electricity network fault analysis. While the products are designed and built in our Dalgety Bay offices, never the less a large aspect of our work is performed on-site and in accordance with carefully written risk assessments and method statements. This provides an assurance to our client that we have done our preparation, identified any risks and put the appropriate control measures in place in order to minimise those risks. Working safely is the responsibility of every individual team member.
