to lead the management of test systems and instrumentation in accordance with
ARINC 668
and other aerospace standards. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting R&D, production, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) operations through strategic oversight of test equipment acquisition, calibration, compliance, and lifecycle support.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Equipment Oversight:
Manage the full lifecycle of electronic test equipment used in avionics testing, ensuring systems are suitable for high-reliability aerospace environments.
Standards Compliance:
Ensure test systems comply with standardisation, interchangeability, and equivalence of OEM avionics test equipment, as well as other applicable aerospace standards.
Calibration & Certification:
Oversee regular calibration of all test assets, ensuring traceability to national/international standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Automation & Interface Management:
Support the development and integration of automated test systems and standardized interfaces, enhancing test efficiency and reducing test setup variability.
Supply Chain & Vendor Management:
Engage with OEMs and third-party providers for equipment acquisition, calibration services, and maintenance contracts.
Asset Tracking & Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive records of test assets, including calibration certificates, usage logs, compliance documents, and service histories.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with avionics engineers, systems integrators, and quality assurance teams to ensure test readiness for development and certification programs.
Process Improvement:
Drive initiatives for lean test processes, equipment standardization, and digital asset management to support continuous improvement.
Safety & Compliance:
Uphold stringent health & safety practices related to test setups and high-voltage environments, in line with aerospace regulations and company policies.
Requirements:
Degree or HND in Electronics, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a test equipment management or senior test engineering role in the aerospace industry.
Strong understanding of
ARINC 668
, along with related standards such as ARINC 429, and AS9100 and Part 145.
Experience with test instrumentation: oscilloscopes, RF test sets, avionics databus testers, signal generators, etc.
Proven track record in managing calibration systems and supporting compliance audits.
Excellent organisational and communication skills, with ability to work across engineering and production environments.
Familiarity with electronic asset management systems and calibration tracking software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in MRO or avionics systems testing.
Experience with automated test system (ATE) development.
Certification in metrology or quality (e.g., UKAS, ISO 17025).
Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma practices within an aerospace context.
