an ELV Depollution operative
to join our fast paced and growing organisation. This role would suit candidates with a keen interest in the recycling of motor vehicles of all makes and models
At Merton Car Dismantlers we provide a fast and friendly service our customers and provide excellent quality used car parts for their vehicle at a very competitive price. We also provide a free scrap car collection service to the people of Liverpool and the surrounding areas. Based on one of the main roads into Liverpool and the Docks, our motor recycling and dismantling scrap yard is well located on Hawthorne Road, Bootle.
The ideal candidate will:
Be confident in operating a forklift truck and have previous experience (required 2 years)
Have previous experience working in a car environment (min 1 years)
Display a good understanding of vehicle manufacturers, makes models and components
Be inquisitive and keen to develop their knowledge of cars, models, part compatibility across various manufacturers and the 'family's' that car parts belong to or share
Be keen to develop their knowledge in all elements of the car dismantling and recycling process.
Be able to multitask, prioritise and respond to different demands at any one time
Be well organised and demonstrate good memory skills
Have excellent time management skills, punctual and strong attendance record
Be a clear communicator with good listening skills
Be trustworthy, reliable and self-motivated
Be friendly with a positive attitude, enthusiastic and 'can-do' attitude to work
English and Maths GCSE
The role will involve:
Carefully moving vehicles around the site using a forklift truck
Using specialist equipment and hand tools to drain fuels and oils safely from End of Life Vehicles
Evaluate and grade vehicles as per our grading system to ensure they are processed within our yard in the correct way
Photographing Vehicles with use of mobile/tablet - Identifying and recording any faults/non working component's on scrap vehicles, share information with the team
Removing car parts with hand tools for resale
Proactively dealing with any slip/trip hazards on the yard and promoting a safety culture by demonstrating a 'One Team' attitude and not waiting for someone else to do so
You will be responsible to maintain high levels of order and cleanliness in your own work area and adhere to the wearing of the required PPE at all times
Report any Health and Safety issues to senior management team or supervisors
Demonstrate organisational skills by ensuring stock is accurately labelled and not left on the floor ensuring you adhere to the stock management system at all times
Actively take part in compulsory training and display willingness to engage in company projects and initiatives
Willingly take instruction from senior management or supervisors when being asked to offer support in a different work area or team to move the business forward.
Outdoor working in all weather is required

Hours: 40 - 47 hours per week
Schedule:
Day shift
Monday to Friday: 8 hour shift 08.30-17.00
Saturday: 7 hour shift 08.30-16.00 (2 Saturdays required in every 4)
