This is a full-time role based at the new AVS facilities in Westcott, with fully dedicated MAIT facilities. You will be expected to be on site 5 days per week for the first 3 months probation period, before transitioning to a hybrid working environment with 3 days a week in the office and 2 days a week working from home. We also offer additional employment benefits such as health insurance, TOIL and a flexi-time policy, with up to 2 additional flexi days permitted per month.

JOB DESCRIPTION
AVS is looking to expand its electronics team capabilities with the addition of an embedded electronics engineer to support our ongoing programs. You will be supporting the development of the next generation of embedded systems for real flight ESA and Science, Deep-Space, LEO and Exploration missions. These typically focus on Power Conversion Processing, Distribution and Conditioning Units, Control systems, and Motor and Actuator controllers. Applications are endless: from Power Processing Units (PPU) for green chemical and electric propulsion solutions, to drive and control electronics for high-precision pointing mechanisms and robotics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and test of embedded electronics for space applications
Work at every stage of product development from prototyping to flight systems.
Be involved in circuit design, analysis, simulation, and PCB layout
Develop power supplies, MCU-based control electronics, motor drivers, etc.
Trade-offs for the selection of the schematic decisions, component selection, etc.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary team on requirements definition, mechanical and thermal integration of the PCBs
Testing and debugging of developed articles
Technical support to MAIT for related fabrication, assembly, integration and tests tasks
MINIMUM SPECIFICATION:
More than 3 years of industry experience involved in the development of embedded electronics systems for Space applications or other industries with requirements to high reliability
Experience working with MCU-based control systems
Experience working with different DC-DC converter topologies
Experience with drive control electronics
Proficiency in PCB design software (e.g. Altium)
Practical experience with hardware building and testing processes, incl.: wiring, soldering, using measurement equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
Knowledge of industry standards (IPC, ECSS, ESCC, IEC) and associated tailoring
Able to work with tight deadlines and with several projects in parallel.
Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Well educated and mannered, and technology-passionate
DESIRED SPECIFICATION:
Masters in Engineering (MEng) or MPhys or MSc in Electronics or Space related topics.
Full lifecycle experience from prototype to electronics flight hardware development and building (TRL>7).
Proficiency in schematic simulation software (e.g. LTspice)
Experience with wide range of measurement instruments and test strategies.
Understanding of radiation effects of EEE components and mitigation strategies
Ideally >5 years of experience developing electronics systems for Space applications.
