Sales Manager (Industrial Gas)





Reports to: Industrial Sales Manager




Position: Permanent - Fulltime onsite




Base Location: Manchester (With Travel requirements)

In this role, you will lead our sales initiatives across your assigned territory, developing and executing strategies to achieve and exceed both individual and team sales goals for products and services. Through a value-based selling approach, you will deliver exceptional customer experiences, foster long-term relationships and drive sustained satisfaction. Your responsibilities will include identifying growth opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and ensuring consistent execution of sales objectives.

Key Responsibilities:



Business Development & Account Management




Work primarily with End Clients, Distributors, Consulting Engineers and Main Contractors to develop new Industrial Gas business projects. Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships to generate ongoing business opportunities. Develop and execute Customer Plans that include: Gap analysis for account plans Sales plans Competitor analysis Forecasts Sales pipeline reviews



Sales Strategy, Forecasting & Pipeline Management




Use the company CRM Tool in accordance with company guidelines to: Track opportunities Build winning strategies for all targeted accounts Achieve order input targets aligned with budget requirements Forecast order input following established company practice using a Sales Pipeline. Assign factored forecast values for all active opportunities based on their pipeline stage. Develop and implement sales plans to progress opportunities through the pipeline.



Customer Engagement & Cross-Functional Coordination




Manage customer-facing activities with appropriate support from Marketing, Engineering, and Management to maximise project conversion rates. Ensure customer expectations are managed within agreed functional capacities. Liaise with internal departments to resolve customer queries and progress requests. Provide feedback on sales opportunities, technical issues, competitive positioning and market intelligence.



Proposal & Quotation Management




Prepare quotations and proposals to customer specifications using the relevant software, tools, and technical documentation within required timescales. Maximise use of internal quoting programs to enhance efficiency and team productivity.



Market & Product Development Support




Support the development and promotion of new products and services for the assigned market. Contribute to market intelligence gathering to guide business strategy and competitive positioning.



Planning, Reporting & Administration




Plan and manage time effectively, ensuring activity-focused and cost-effective journey plans. Forecast and report order input, activity levels, and pipeline status in line with company procedures. Attend sales meetings, conferences, training events and briefings as required.



What We're Looking For



Education & Experience




Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Administration. Extensive customer-facing industrial application sales experience. Strong working knowledge of industrial natural gas systems. Proven ability to acquire, interpret and understand technical information. Experience with data entry and completing documentation accurately and legibly.



Technical Skills




Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Skilled in using CRM systems for sales management and customer relationship tracking.



Soft Skills & Other Requirements




Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional customer service orientation. Strong leadership skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach and a bias for action. Ability to simplify complex problems, perform root cause analysis, and provide clear recommendations. High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities. Self-motivated, proactive, and flexible, with a commitment to achieving high standards of quality and efficiency. Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.
