This position is part of the Ethics and Compliance (E&C) group, within the Legal Department, and will support the EMEA region, reporting directly to the Global Chief Compliance Officer. The EMEA Senior Counsel will serve as the E&C leader for the EMEA Region which consists of four clusters. This position is responsible for driving strategic and tactical initiatives and providing counsel and direction needed on all E&C related issues to support the business's growth and operations across EMEA.


The position will be based in Europe, specific location negotiable, and some business travel throughout the region will be required.

The candidate selected for this role will:

Provide E&C counseling to internal Business Units, regional functions, and senior leadership on a wide range of anti-corruption, regulatory and legal matters, and global, regional, and country E&C policies and procedures.
Develop, communicate, and implement policies and procedures in support of the company's E&C program and to prevent and detect conduct inconsistent with the company's policies and the law. Drive awareness of the importance of E&C and identify areas of vulnerability and risk and undertake corrective action plans to resolve the issues. Develop, deliver, and oversee training relating to ethics and compliance and the company's policies, industry codes, and the law. Mentor and manage team members; currently, this position has one direct report based in the region. Collaborate with other E&C team members both in the global organization and other regions on investigations, monitoring, data analytics, policies, and training development. Perform special assignments or projects as assigned around the region or for the global E&C team. Collaborate with and manage outside counsel, as appropriate. Be a strategic partner with the business leadership and functional heads in the region.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:





Bachelor of Laws minimum with outstanding academic track-record. Extensive experience between private law firm practice, big four global accounting/consulting firms, government service and/or in-house required, with demonstrated experience in-house ethics and compliance working with a multi-national corporation.
Experience in EMEA regional Healthcare is strongly preferred, although experience in other highly regulated industries is considered. Demonstrated experience with the Foreign Corruption Practices Act and comparable anti-corruption rules and regulations is required. Expert knowledge and experience with antitrust and pharmaceutical and medical device clinical studies, product registration, licensing, and promotion is preferred.

Superior written and oral communication and inter-personal skills. English fluency required, other languages from the region a plus. Outstanding strategic and analytical capability balanced with innovative, independent thinking and readiness to be hands on to drive success/impact. Dynamic and resilient individual with the demonstrated ability and confidence to make decisions and influence senior management, persuade and build consensus across the business and functions. Excellent organizational skills, energetic, proactive, self-starter with an open and approachable communication style. Ability to work in a complicated matrix organization and adapt to a rapidly changing business environment. Awareness and sensitivity to varied cultures across the region and the ability to adapt programs to address these differences. Ability to motivate, develop and lead a cross-cultural team and work within a global organization.
