What you'll be doing
This is predominately a transfer pricing role but offers the right person exposure to other parts of the tax function such as some CIT and VAT advisory and compliance requirements in territories in EMEA. The role will therefore offer interesting and varied work in a dynamic and fast moving organization.
As part of the transfer pricing function of the Hitachi Europe shared service centre, the individual will report directly to the EMEA transfer pricing lead and support on the various transfer pricing requirements in the territories Hitachi Europe operates in. There will also be a requirement to support the other Tax team members
Key Responsibilities:
Transfer Pricing
Assist the EMEA Transfer Pricing Manager in providing corporate tax and transfer pricing support to group companies across various industries and European countries, focusing on tax compliance and advisory services, VAT compliance and advisory, transfer pricing support, and other tax-related support services.
Contribute to the transfer pricing compliance process for Hitachi Europe's UK, German, Italian, French, Saudi and Spanish legal entities, as well as Polish, South African, Danish, Romanian and Turkish branches. Also other Hitachi group companies in EMEA will require transfer pricing ad hoc as well as recurring support from time to time.
Prepare and file country-by-country reporting notifications with tax authorities in the region and manage transfer pricing documentation, including benchmark searches and economic analysis.
Support the EMEA Transfer Pricing Manager in providing transfer pricing advisory services to Hitachi Europe's entities and other group companies. Conduct in-depth company, industry, and market research, and design financial models to analyze and price intercompany transactions for products and services.
Provide support to the EMEA Transfer Pricing Manager in addressing requests from the Hitachi headquarters tax team. Prepare the Hitachi group's country-by-country report, review the group's transfer pricing information, and assess transfer pricing risks.
Act as the contact person for routine transfer pricing issues within the region and support the corporate tax process, system reviews, and testing, including assessment of tax risks.
Collaborate closely with the EMEA Transfer Pricing Manager and the EMEA Head of Tax to determine appropriate approaches and strategies for local entities in handling corporate tax and transfer pricing audits and controversies with local tax authorities.
Participate in ensuring that appropriate tax controls, procedures, and reporting functionalities are in place.
Contribute to the implementation of projects related to finance, tax, or transfer pricing topics.
CIT
Provide support to the CIT Manager based in Poland on CIT compliance and tax advisory for branches in Poland, Switzerland and South Africa.
Assist with ad hoc projects such as Pillar 2 and R&D claims in relevant territories (mainly UK)
VAT
Verification of VAT issues for various EU countries and some third countries, in particular cross-border issues
Preparation of e.g. VAT returns, recapitulative statements and Intrastast declarations for various EU countries
What you bring to the team

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and background:
Bachelor's or master's degree in economics, or an accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA, ATT, CTA, or similar.
Strong practical experience in transfer pricing and VAT within a multinational environment, either from an in-house or tax consulting perspective.
In-depth understanding of transfer pricing policies and methodologies, the "arm's-length principle," and business economics; understanding of international tax issues.
High-level understanding of CIT and other taxes preferably with Tax Advisor Qualification.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to a culture of excellence, integrity, and accountability.
Effective research skills with knowledge of performing benchmark searches and analyses using relevant databases.
Proficiency with MS Office (particularly Excel); knowledge of benchmarking databases such as Orbis and TP Catalyst; ideally also experience with SAP.
