Employee Relations Advisor

Thame, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Find where you belong!

We're looking for someone who's passionate about supporting people and helping managers navigate employee relations with care, fairness and confidence. As an Employee Relations Advisor at Travelodge, you'll help sustain a culture of line management ownership, facilitating a pragmatic, best practice and human approach to ER. You'll be responsible for driving and supporting the timely conclusion of both low and high complexity ER matters. You'll be part of a supportive central ER team, working together on a wide range of cases, from day-to-day matters to more complex situations.

What's it all about?

In this role, you'll be the go-to expert for managers and colleagues, leading a variety of ER cases, including disciplinaries, grievances and appeals, through to whistleblowing, serious incidents, absence and performance management and post-employment complaints. You'll also play a key role in managing more complex matters such as ACAS and Employment Tribunal claims, working closely with our ER Manager and legal partners to achieve the best outcomes and minimise risk.

Alongside casework, you'll coach and support managers to build their confidence in handling people issues, and guide our People Services team on lower-level ER activity. You'll keep records and reports up to date, spot trends, and share insights to improve how we support our colleagues.

You'll also contribute to wider HR projects, policy development and training programmes, including initiatives that drive our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. This is a varied role where no two days are the same - one day you might be supporting a manager through a complex investigation, and the next you'll be shaping how we manage and develop our people for the future.

Why Travelodge?

We believe in creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can be their true self and belong. We work hard to improve the diversity of our teams and celebrate our differences. And we care about our colleagues' wellbeing, so we ensure there are plenty of resources available so everyone can look after their emotional, physical, financial and work wellbeing. We call this "Better Me".

Who will this appeal to?

This role will appeal to an experienced Employee Relations professional who has already managed complex, high-risk cases and is confident operating at pace in a busy, centralised environment. You'll bring proven experience of handling ACAS processes and employment tribunal claims, working directly with solicitors, and applying employment legislation such as the Employment Rights Act and Equality Act in practice.

You'll be confident making autonomous decisions on sensitive matters, providing pragmatic, commercially-minded advice, and constructively challenging stakeholders - from line managers through to senior leaders - to influence the right outcomes. Attention to detail and strong written communication skills are essential, as you'll often be the final check on correspondence and documentation with significant legal implications.

If you're someone who thrives on complex casework, is motivated by driving consistency and fairness, and wants to make a real impact by shaping how a business manages its people, this is the role for you.

What are the extra benefits of working for Travelodge?

Salary of up to 33,500 Hybrid working - a minimum of 60% of your time should be spent in the office, but you're welcome to come in every day if you prefer! 50% personal discount for hotel bookings and great friends and family discounts too! Contributory pension scheme 25 days holiday + bank holidays, increasing with length of service Annual bonus * A focus on learning and career development
