Would you like an opportunity to join a progressive and creative payroll and pensions service?



We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic payroll officer to join our Employee Services Department. The postholder will have a comprehensive knowledge of payroll, demonstrate attention to detail, be required to work as part of a team and demonstrate good organisational skills to ensure effective service delivery.



The post holder will be expected to manage, plan and organise his/her own workload, be expected to work independently and to use their initiative to resolve any complex problems arising and communicate solutions effectively. Additionally you will need to be an enthusiastic team player that relishes a challenge and thrives in a busy environment.



This role is based at Preston Business Centre and you will oversee your own payroll allocation with support from the wider payroll team.



This role is varied and each day is different in payroll.



The candidate must have knowledge of the ESR system and NHS Terms and Conditions and adhere to statutory legislation.



The postholder will require good organisation skills in order to prioritise and plan your ow workload within the agreed deadlines.



Customer service skill are important as you will need to respond to employees in a courteous and professional manner by telephone, MS Teams and email.



Have a good understanding of computer applications including Microsoft Office.



Our Partnership brings together the five NHS provider Trusts with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) in Lancashire and South Cumbria to improve health and healthcare. The organisations across Lancashire and South Cumbria involved in the collaboration are Blackpool Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. This is about working together as equal partners to make sure patients, their families and communities benefit across the whole of the area.



The aim is to reduce health inequalities and improve services, outcomes and people's experiences of accessing healthcare. Our partnership also aims to ensure that Lancashire and South Cumbria is a great place to work.



We want to further improve quality by sharing skills and best practice, pooling our resources and standardising the way we work where possible to reduce unnecessary duplication. To achieve this we have created One LSC, which will oversee all corporate services for Lancashire and South Cumbria.

The main duties for this role are:

Assisting with the efficient and effective operation of the payroll service.

Undertaking a range of calculations (PAYE, Ni, SMP, SSP etc)

Working to strict deadlines ensuring accuracy and attention to detail are at the forefront of all tasks undertaken.

Providing support to staff responding to queries in a timely manner.



Supporting Payroll Team Leaders in the training of staff to futureproof the provision f the payroll service.



Respond to all enquiries either written or verbal in a professional, courteous and timely manner and ensuring a high standard of customer service is provided.
