Overview
Better Pathways is seeking an experienced and motivated
Employment Coach & IAG Advisor
to support unemployed and economically inactive residents of East Birmingham and North Solihull.
This is a full-time role shared across two funded projects:
One project is funded until
March 2026
.
The second project is funded until
July 2026
.
There may be opportunities for extension if funding allows.
Hours split:
Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG): 21 hours per week
Employment Advisor: 16 hours per week
The post involves delivering one-to-one coaching and group workshops both at Better Pathways and within community venues such as Job Centres, community hubs, and job fairs. The role focuses on providing high-quality employability support and tailored IAG services to help participants progress into employment, education, and training.
Main Responsibilities Employability Coaching
Deliver one-to-one employability support including CV development, job applications, interview preparation, workplace readiness, and confidence building.
Support the Digital Inclusion Officer with employability workshops covering transferable skills, workplace readiness, and personal development.
Build relationships with employers to identify job opportunities and create sustainable employment pathways.
Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG)
Conduct detailed IAG assessments with participants to identify barriers, skills needs, and aspirations.
Develop and review personalised action plans with SMART goals.
Provide high-quality advice and signposting to training, education, and specialist services.
Support participants in navigating local resources and making informed decisions about their progression.
Outreach and Referrals
Undertake outreach at Job Centres, job fairs, and community organisations to generate referrals.
Build and maintain partnerships with referral agencies, colleges, and local organisations across East Birmingham and North Solihull.
Engage with priority groups, particularly individuals with disabilities and long-term health conditions.
Case Management and Reporting
Manage a caseload, ensuring participant journeys are recorded accurately on CRM systems.
Monitor progress towards agreed outcomes and update action plans regularly.
Provide monthly monitoring data and contribute to project reports and evaluation activities.
General Responsibilities

Take ownership of administrative aspects of the role, including accurate record keeping.

Person Specification Qualifications
Level 3 NVQ in Information, Advice and Guidance (essential).
Experience
Proven track record in community engagement and development.
Experience in partnership working and multi-agency collaboration.
Proven ability to source employment and training opportunities.
Experience completing needs assessments and project-related documentation.
Experience delivering services to disabled people and those with long-term health conditions (desirable).
Knowledge
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor communication to different audiences.
Hands-on problem-solving ability.
Strong analytical and reporting skills.
Proactive, self-motivated, and a collaborative team player.
Experience in customer service (desirable).
Driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable).
Understanding of equal opportunities and diversity practice.
Good IT literacy including Microsoft Office and data management systems.
Knowledge of the East Birmingham and Solihull areas (desirable).
Understanding of the Social Model of Disability (desirable).
