Employment Lead

Remote, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

About ETS

ETS is a growing, purpose-led training provider with a bold mission: to build skills, change lives, and strengthen the workforce. We help people who've faced barriers to employment (such as criminal records, care experience, homelessness, or long-term health conditions) move into meaningful, skilled work.

We work with job centres, prisons, probation services, and employers to deliver high-quality training and employment support programmes. As a small and ambitious organisation with a start-up mindset, we're looking for someone who wants to help us grow, improve what we do, and have a real impact.

We believe work is more than just a job. It's a foundation for confidence, stability, purpose and progress. When someone secures lasting employment, it doesn't just change their life, it benefits their family, their community, and the wider economy. That's why we do what we do.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Employment Lead to join our team and help people furthest from the labour market move into and sustain employment.

The people you support will have recently completed training with ETS and may have faced a range of complex life challenges, such as homelessness, time in prison, domestic abuse, bereavement, learning difficulties or disabilities, physical or mental health issues, or caring responsibilities. Your job is to provide the tailored, compassionate, and practical support each person needs to move forward.

You'll be managing a caseload of up to 120 people, primarily through remote 1:1 support, with regular check-ins by phone or video. You'll also attend training days across the UK (in prisons and in the community), delivering short group sessions and building rapport early on.

Our work depends on funding, so we can have programmes running in different parts of the UK at any one time. Willingness and flexibility to travel is essential. This is a home-based, independent role that suits someone who is proactive, organised, and ready to work hard.

You'll have the opportunity to help shape how we work. As a small organisation with a start-up feel, we're creating systems, processes, and delivery approaches as we go. If you thrive in fast-paced, varied work and like being part of something that's evolving, this could be the role for you.

This role offers a base salary between 25,000 - 32,000 depending on experience, plus an outcomes-based bonus scheme. The bonus is paid at 20 for each participant successfully supported into sustained employment, aligned with contract definitions. Bonus payments are linked to verified employment outcomes and paid in line with organisational performance and contract requirements.

What success looks like in this role

You'll build strong, trusting relationships with participants, maintain a well-managed caseload, and consistently support people into sustained employment. You'll balance empathy with outcomes, work independently while staying connected to the team, and have excellent relationships with a broad range of employers.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of up to 120 individuals with a high standard of organisation, communication, and reporting. Provide 1:1 employability support (CVs, job searches, applications, interview prep) via phone and video to individuals on your caseload, with a view to hitting employment targets and creating positive employment outcomes. Run employability workshops with a focus on interview skills, CV writing, workplace etiquette and other key competencies. Build relationships with employers and recruitment agencies, to improve access to job vacancies for our learners. Ensure employability days run smoothly, with a range of employers invited. Circulate learner CVs to employers and recruiters and set up interviews as required. Research job vacancies and share with learners, encouraging them to apply. Provide case studies on learner outcomes. Liaise with referral agencies (e.g. DWP Work Coaches, local charities, other organisations) to ensure we receive a broad range of referrals onto each course. Maintain contact with these agencies to provide updates on learner progress. Keep accurate data, timely records, and prepare monthly reports. Participate in monthly team meetings (some in London, some online). Contribute to continuous improvement by offering feedback and helping shape systems, policies and delivery. Work together with the broader team to support the whole learner journey, from onboarding and enrolment onto courses, to supporting engagement throughout the course, and then offering support as they complete the course and begin seeking work. Be aware of any additional needs (e.g. learning difficulties or disabilities) and ensure trainers / employers are aware of these. Work in partnership with other agencies to break down barriers and improve access to employment.
