An enthusiastic Employment specialist with a passion for helping others overcome challenges and barriers, who is experienced in delivering empathetic and practical support, to build resilience, and a solution-focused mindset, helping individuals stay in meaningful employment.
Location:
The role will be based either in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire with travel expected across the area (Mansfield, Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Newark) throughout the week - please note this is a community-based project.
Duties and responsibilities:
Provide Ongoing In-Work Support:
Deliver tailored, proactive support to customers who have successfully gained employment, helping them maintain and thrive in their roles through regular check-ins and personalised interventions.
Collaborate with Employers:
Develop strong, trust-based partnerships with employers to promote inclusive practices, raise awareness of available support, and advocate for positive workplace adjustments for individuals with health conditions. Employment Specialists will work closely with employers to create and strengthen inclusive workplace cultures, providing guidance and support, and acting as an advocate for participants if challenges arise ensuring both the employee and employer have the tools to succeed.
Champion Our Customers:
Actively promote customers as valuable employees and work with employers to ensure they are supported throughout their employment journey.
Develop Individual Action Plans:
Create and implement personalised plans for each customer, ensuring effective and appropriate activities are undertaken to meet their needs.
Monitor Progress:
Maintain regular contact with customers before and after they start work to track progress, address challenges, and provide timely solutions. In addition to supporting job retention, Employment Specialists will help individuals with career development, including guidance on education, increasing hours, taking on more responsibility, moving into a more desirable role, or adjusting duties to better align with their preferences.
Identify Opportunities:
Engage proactively with employers to identify potential job opportunities, progression pathways, and training solutions that meet the needs of both customers and businesses.
Signposting and Specialist Support:
Build knowledge of local services and resources, including disability support, housing, and benefits, to provide effective signposting where needed.
Maintain Accurate Records:
Ensure all customer interactions and progress are documented to the highest quality standards in line with contractual and compliance requirements.
Performance and Quality:
Meet personal targets and KPIs by delivering high-quality, customer-focused support that drives positive outcomes.
Work in Partnership:
Collaborate with key partners and stakeholders to deliver a joined-up approach for employers and customers, ensuring sustainable employment solutions.
Qualifications & Essential Criteria
You will have a creative problem-solving and a solution-focused mindset, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and confidently challenge others. You'll be an excellent communicator, approachable, and empathetic--while staying highly organised, performance-driven, and determined to make a real, positive impact in people's lives.
Essential criteria include:
A passion for helping people overcome barriers and succeed
Experience supporting individuals with health conditions or disabilities
Strong coaching and motivational skills
Ability to build partnerships and networks
Great organisational skills and caseload management experience
Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection
Flexibility to work occasional evenings/weekends with ability to drive to different locations within set parameter.
Driving licence and access to a car
Desirable criteria
Background/qualification in health, mental health, social care, or related fields
Understanding of IPS or Supported Employment
Local employment knowledge
Experience with welfare and benefits guidance
