Position Summary
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an Energy and Carbon Analyst to join our family-owned company. Our ideal candidate will have had experience in a similar role within the energy industry previously. However, more importantly you will have the desire to learn, grow and the ability to motivate yourself and others.
The role is predominantly home-based with flexibility of working hours outside of the required core hours of Monday to Friday 09:30 to 15:00.
Position Summary
The
Energy & Carbon Analyst
will analyse energy and emissions data, create carbon footprints and decarbonisation roadmaps, and crucially
develop and manage financial budgets
aligned to client and project objectives. This role ensures that clients not only understand their carbon position but also how decarbonisation strategies translate into financial performance, risk management, and return on investment.
The role is 37.5 hours per week at Head Office in Lytham St Annes or Manchester with flexibility of working hours outside of the required core hours of Monday to Friday 09:30 to 15:00 in addition to the flexibility of hybrid working once training is complete.

The Role
Collect, cleanse, and analyse energy and utility consumption data (electricity, gas, heat, water, fuels)
Calculate carbon footprints (Scope 1, 2, and where applicable Scope 3) following GHG Protocol / ISO 14064
Support development of
financially modelled net zero roadmaps
, showing cost savings, ROI, and payback periods for interventions
Create, monitor, and manage financial budgets
for energy/carbon projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with client goals
Provide financial risk and scenario analysis for energy procurement strategies
Input into compliance reports (ESOS, SECR, ESG) and client sustainability disclosures
Prepare clear and concise outputs: reports, dashboards, financial models, and presentations
Liaise with clients, finance teams, and internal consultants to ensure robust alignment of carbon actions with financial performance
Track, report, and forecast against agreed budgets and KPIs
Keep updated on energy/carbon regulation, markets, and financial incentives (UK ETS, CCA, subsidies, tax impacts)
Requirements and skills
Essential:
Experience in energy, engineering, finance, economics, sustainability, or related discipline
Demonstrated experience in energy/carbon analysis
and financial modelling or budget management
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including financial scenario modelling and cost/benefit evaluation
Proficiency with Excel (advanced financial modelling), plus exposure to Power BI / Tableau or similar
Knowledge of carbon accounting (GHG Protocol, ISO standards) and energy market principles
Ability to explain financial and technical insights clearly to clients
Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage multiple budgets and deadlines
Desirable:
Professional experience in consultancy, energy-intensive industries, or corporate finance / FP&A with sustainability focus
Familiarity with regulatory compliance (ESOS, SECR, UK ETS, CCA) and ESG reporting (CDP, TCFD, SBTi)
Experience with energy procurement, hedging, or risk management
Exposure to renewable projects and capex/opex financial modelling
Accuracy of energy and carbon analyses
Quality and reliability of
financial budgets and forecasts
Value of carbon and cost savings identified and delivered
Client satisfaction and feedback
Contribution to GLEG's financial and carbon reporting platform development
