Energy and Renewables Manager Job description
Full time, Permanent
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an innovative team focused on improving standards in council housing. The Housing Asset Management Team are responsible for making decisions on the investment and improvements in the city's council homes - Bristol owns and manages over 27,000 flats and houses in all wards across the city, built in every decade over the previous 100 years.
The investment decisions for our diverse range of homes, within an environment of ever-changing standards, priorities and financial arrangements can be a challenge - the aim is to ensure we invest in the right way at the right time. The focus for you will be leading our strategy to improve energy standards in our homes - establishing the course to achieve the challenging targets of net zero carbon and minimum EPC C.
What will I be doing?
You will act as the lead for Housing in developing our response to the Climate Emergency in Bristol:

  • Developing our overall approach to achieving minimum energy standards and the strategic approach to achieving carbon neutral - including developing and agreeing costed and deliverable programmes
  • Acting as the client for housing with our City Leap partner.
  • Leading on delivering improvements in Asset Management and investment planning
  • Manage projects, risks and ensure agreed changes are embedded in the business.
Your outstanding communications skills will ensure that you develop excellent relationships with external and internal stakeholders, and you will deliver effective and informative reports for Elected Members and Management Teams.
What do I need to have?
Most importantly you will have excellent understanding of long-term investment planning in social housing, as well as a thorough knowledge of energy efficiency in housing and the challenges of achieving the city's targets. Your knowledge will be accompanied by a detailed understanding of sound project management principles with the ability to take ownership for a project from start to finish.
We're looking for someone who is both innovative, and analytical with the ability to tackle challenges through creative solutions using a complex dataset. An influential and persuasive communicator, you will be able to manage successful relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
