An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Energy & Water Project Officer within Brighton & Hove City Council\'s Property & Design Team.

About the role

You will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, energy companies and regulatory bodies to ensure the effective management of the Council\'s Energy & Water contracts, including timely payment and validation of electronic billing files, organisation of portfolio changes, monitoring of contract performance and implementation of metering programme.

You will also be required to assist budget holders with queries by preparing financial monitoring reports, as well as encouraging energy and water efficiency through the maintenance and utilisation of the Council\'s Energy Management software and database.

Applicants will be required to display a keen eye for detail and the ability to carry out effective analysis of energy consumption data to identify potential energy savings, meet statutory compliance under Display Energy Certificates Regulations and assist with delivery of the Council\'s Carbon Footprint Reporting.

We need a team player who is has the flexibility to manage time sensitive cyclical tasks, alongside ad-hoc project duties. Applicants must demonstrate good communication skills with the ability to work under pressure in our busy team.

You will ideally have an honours degree in an environmental, energy related or otherwise relevant subject, or significant and relevant industry experience.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Part office / part home - hybrid - We offer the opportunity for the suitable candidate to choose to work in a hybrid way. Your specific working arrangements will be subject to team and service working arrangements already in place alongside Government guidance. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
