As a Planning Enforcement Officer, you'll oversee various enforcement cases, ensuring compliance with planning policies.
Our Enforcement Team plays a vital role in the planning process, ensuring high-quality, sustainable development in line with the Development Plan and other relevant considerations.
In this role, you will undertake investigations into alleged breaches of planning laws, covering areas such as listed buildings, advertisements, and protected trees. Your role involves making decisions on appropriate actions, from negotiated compliance to prosecution preparation, while also assessing threats to public safety and protecting the environment. You will be expected to competently draft enforcement notices, reports and witness statements as and when required.
Skills, Knowledge & experience required
Educated to degree level in a relevant subject OR equivalent
experience of working in an investigative/regulatory, or enforcement role ITQ 2 or equivalent skill
Good knowledge of planning practice, procedures legislation, advice and policies OR
historic building and conservation practice, procedures legislation, advice and policies Prepare concise reports and orally present evidence in hearings, Public Inquiry and occasionally Court in a concise, persuasive and convincing manner as a witness and expert witness
