The Opportunity:


We're on the lookout for a Computer Science Teache

who can do more than teach code - you'll design and lead engaging workshops that bring technology to life for young learners visiting from overseas, making it fun, accessible, and unforgettable.

In this role, you won't just be delivering someone else's plan - you'll craft hands-on, curiosity-fueled workshops that introduce computing concepts in creative ways, tailored to the interests and needs of international students aged 10-16. These students (KS1/KS2 levels) are here to explore not only a new language, but a new world - and your sessions will help them connect what they experience in Cambridge with the digital tools shaping their futures.

Whether you're building projects inspired by their excursions, sparking discussions about how technology relates to what they see, or simply helping them feel confident using tech in English, you'll be inspiring young minds in a setting that's supportive, dynamic, and alive with possibility.

This role is perfect for someone who loves designing exciting learning experiences and seeing those lightbulb moments - especially for students new to English (CEFR A1-B1+) who need patience, creativity, and encouragement.

Key Programme Details:



Dates:

4th to 9th August 2025

Hours:

Afternoon sessions between 13:00-17:00

Students:

Ages 10-16 from China, CEFR A1-B1(+)

Focus:

Interactive, age-appropriate Computer Science sessions linked to their experience in Cambridge

Pay:

30.00 per hour

Location:

Central Cambridge (meals provided on-site during working hours)

What You'll Do:



Design and lead practical computer science workshops tailored to young learners Adapt content to suit non-native English speakers with varying CEFR levels Connect computing concepts with students' cultural experiences in the UK Collaborate with experienced staff who will assist you in delivering sessions smoothly Create an inclusive, exciting learning environment that encourages participation and curiosity

What We're Looking For:



Experience teaching KS1 or KS2 students in computer science or related STEM subjects Experience designing courses or curricula focused on this age group and aligned with the UK National Curriculum is highly desirable Confidence delivering sessions to groups of international students with English levels ranging from A1 to B1(+) Energetic, flexible approach with the ability to adapt explanations for young learners Knowledge of, or experience with, the Centre for Computing History in Cambridge is a big plus Excellent communication and organisational skills Availability in Cambridge every afternoon of the specified week
