We are looking for an Engagement Coordinator (Heritage) to join our National Lottery Heritage Fund project,

Our Past, Their Future.

As the

Engagement Coordinator (Heritage),

you will play a vital role collecting the oral histories of the parents of people with a learning disability, and parents with a learning disability. Alongside a group of volunteers and project staff you will also curate and interpret the oral histories into an exhibition which will travel around Wales in the second half of the project.

This is a part- time fixed-term position (22.5 hours per week) till 31 March 2028. Whilst the role can be home-based when not out collecting stories, there is an expectation to spend one day a week at our office in Abercynon. There will also be the expectation

for extensive travel around Wales. A valid driving license and access to your own car are essential for this role.



Your responsibilities will include:


Recruiting and collection of oral histories of parents across South Wales, including Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and parts of Ceredigion and Powys. Recruiting and working with volunteers to design and interpret the travelling exhibition in partnership with other project staff. Establishing a strong working relationship internally and externally with Mencap Network Partners, colleagues and the museums hosting the exhibitions. Supporting participants through the consent process and post-interview aftercare (if required).

What We're Looking For


Previous experience working on heritage projects The ability to communicate effectively through written and face to face contact A track recording delivering creative projects on time and within budget Excellent judgement and troubleshooting skills An interest and desire to know more about learning disability Someone with a driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Sefydlu perthynas waith gref yn fewnol ac yn allanol gyda Phartneriaid Rhwydwaith Mencap, cydweithwyr a'r amgueddfeydd sy'n cynnal yr arddangosfeydd. Cefnogi cyfranogwyr trwy'r broses ganiatad a gofal ol-gyfweliad (os oes angen).
