As the Engagement Officer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and nurturing strong relationships with new, existing, or future supporters. You\'ll do this by raising awareness through compelling resources and engaging content that tell our story, and by collaborating with others on initiatives that positively impact people experiencing homelessness.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative team that collectively delivers fundraising, communications, and stewardship activities. They will contribute to all these areas, as well as support the development of a range of events and activities that will raise awareness, increase engagement, and provide vital income to fund our work.

Our ambition is to end homelessness in Cornwall, and key to our success will be our ability to continue connecting with people and inspiring them to take action - whether through giving financially, volunteering, fundraising for us, or taking part in other events and activities. By building meaningful relationships with others and engaging them in our work, you will ensure St Petrocs can continue to grow and develop its services in response to the increasing number of people being pushed into homelessness.

Please note: This is a fixed term contract for 12 months.

Interviews are expected to take place on Thursday 4th January, with a preferred start date of 5th February 2024.

What you\'ll be doing.



  • Collaborate with the wider organisation to proactively collect and develop engaging content for social media, press releases, newsletters, and other communication channels to promote the organisation\'s work, events and activities.
  • Assist with the development and execution of email marketing campaigns to keep donors, volunteers, and supporters informed about upcoming events, success stories, and opportunities to get involved, in accordance with the team\xe2\x80\x99s year plan.
  • Help keep the charity\xe2\x80\x99s website up-to-date with relevant content, news, and resources. Ensure the website is user-friendly and regularly update information about events, services, and stories.
  • Work with the wider team to create visually appealing and consistent graphics for both digital and print materials, including brochures, flyers, posters, and video.
  • Work with the wider team to develop fundraising appeal messages and materials.
  • Prepare and distribute press releases, and support and coordinate media enquiries.
  • Assist with the photography of events, clients (when permissible), staff, and other activities.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with supporters to ensure a positive and effective engagement.
  • Produce engaging written acknowledgments for supporters.
  • Maintain accurate records of partnerships, donations, and engagement activities using CRM software.
  • Support the engagement and building of relationships with the St Petrocs Business Club.
  • Contribute new ideas and continually seek to improve processes to drive efficiency and improve supporter experience.
  • Attend events as a positive ambassador for St Petrocs, promoting and raising awareness of its services and inspiring existing and potential supporters, working evenings and weekends as required.
  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested.

In addition to the criteria outlined below, this post is subject to successful completion of an Basic disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Some occasional evening and weekend working will be required, but we operate a time off in lieu policy.

St Petrocs was established in 1986 as a direct response to people experiencing homelessness in Truro. Over the years, our services have grown - shaped by the needs of the people we support.

Today, over 60 staff work together tirelessly to ensure we can provide the best quality of service possible to those people who find themselves vulnerably housed or pushed into homelessness.
