Role & Responsibilities
Our Engagement Officer will play a key role in making London Wildlife Trust's nature reserves more inclusive, welcoming, and relevant to London's diverse communities. Working closely with the Engagement Manager, you will lead targeted outreach and build meaningful relationships with underrepresented local groups, co-creating engagement activities that reflect community needs and help break down barriers to accessing green spaces.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups around key London Wildlife Trust sites, ensuring inclusive and respectful engagement
Coordinate and deliver community events and activities, both on-site and off-site, including logistics, risk management, and accessibility considerations
Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to promote events and share engaging content
Support the development and ongoing review of community maps and stakeholder networks across priority sites
Keep engagement plans up to date and aligned with wider organisational strategies, sharing updates with relevant teams
Supervise and support volunteers and sessional staff during engagement activities
Monitor and evaluate the impact of community engagement through feedback, surveys, and database records
Contribute to wider Learning & Engagement team activities, including public events, meetings, and health & safety reporting
Our ideal Engagement Officer:
Demonstrable experience building and maintaining relationships with community groups
Proven ability to plan, promote, and deliver inclusive events and activities for a wide range of audiences
Strong communication skills across face-to-face, email, and telephone interactions
Good understanding of safeguarding and health & safety practices
Compassionate, adaptable, and solution-focused, with the initiative to overcome barriers to green space access
