As an Engineer, you will join a collaborative team delivering secure, scalable digital, data, and technology solutions across policing. Whether your focus is designing data architectures, building cloud platforms, developing services, automating deployments, enabling machine learning, or implementing robust testing, you will help create capabilities that underpin critical national policing services.
You will work closely with internal PDS teams and external partners to design, build, and operate modern technology solutions that improve operational and strategic outcomes across UK law enforcement, including supporting advanced analytics, machine learning, and analytical platform capabilities

Key Responsibilities
Cloud Platform Engineering
Design and deploy Azure-based platform services, including computer, networking, storage, and identity.
Implement infrastructure as code using Bicep, ARM templates, or Terraform. Ensure secure configuration and compliance through Azure Policy, RBAC, and monitoring.
Develop resilient architectures aligned to the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework and Well-Architected Framework.
Platform Development & Integration.
Design, develop, and maintain production-grade applications using Python, C#, or similar.
Build APIs, microservices, and serverless solutions (Azure Functions, App Services, AKS).
Develop automation workflows and system integrations with other policing platforms.
Promote secure coding practices and operational resilience.
What you need to succeed in the role
Cloud Platform Engineering
Experience designing and deploying Azure infrastructure (computer, networking, security).
Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools (ARM, Bicep, Terraform)
Data Architecture
Define Azure-based data architecture strategies aligned to business and operational goals.
Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support analytics, reporting, and operational workloads.
Establish data integration patterns, standards, and best practices.
Implement metadata management, data cataloguing, and governance frameworks (e.g., Azure Purview).
Ensure solutions comply with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements, including RBAC and data classification.
Support architecture reviews, design assurance, and continuous improvement of data architecture practices.
What you need to succeed in the role
Cloud Platform Engineering
Experience designing and deploying Azure infrastructure (computer, networking, security).
Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools (ARM, Bicep, Terraform).
Platform Development
Strong software engineering skills in Python, C#, or similar.
Experience building APIs, microservices, or serverless applications
Data Architecture
Proven experience designing enterprise data architectures in Azure or hybrid environments.
Strong understanding of data modelling, integration patterns, and metadata management.
Knowledge of security, compliance, and governance frameworks for data platforms
