We are recruiting for a specific role within the Network Rail Technology Development Team (TDT), who design and manufacture the High Performance Switch System (HPSS), which is a type of Point Operating Equipment (POE) that is in service across Network Rail's infrastructure. TDT supply new HPSS systems, plus operational spares, tooling, repairs and full product support from their factory in Weston-super-Mare.
On time delivery of safe and reliable HPSS equipment for use in the operational railway is at the forefront of our business, and we are now recruiting for an enthusiastic, motivated and inspiring individual to join the team as an Electronics Engineer to support our achievement of this goal.

About the role (External)
Main Responsibilities
The Role?
The successful Engineer [Electronics] will support electronics production activities to facilitate timely delivery and overall operational efficiency in our factory in Weston-super-Mare.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Assembly, inspection, calibration and test of electronics equipment for Point Operating Equipment (POE) in accordance with the appropriate operating, quality assurance, safety and environment procedures
Leading investigations into faulty electronics equipment returned from the customer, acquiring and analysing data, preparing necessary testing and reports so that root causes of problems are identified, and recommendations can be made for improvements to avoid repeat failures
Providing guidance and support to production staff and junior engineers, sharing your expertise in electronics and production engineering. You'll help foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
Your key skills should include but not be limited to:
Hands-on electronics assembly and testing experience. Comfortable working with PCBs, soldering, and using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators.
Root cause analysis and fault diagnosis. Skilled in identifying, analysing, and resolving technical issues in electronic systems.
Process documentation and reporting. Able to produce clear, concise technical documentation, test reports, and investigation summaries.
Essential Criteria
HNC/HND or equivalent qualification or demonstrate equivalent experience (Level 4 / 5)
Substantial experience in a relevant engineering area
Sound knowledge of relevant policies and standards
An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques
Desirable but not essential
Degree in a relevant subject (Level 6)
Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer
Project management experience and awareness of project management techniques
Railway industry experience
