Engineer/Delivery/Warehouse Assistant

Garton King Appliances is an independent AGA Rangemaster Distributor supplying cookers, fridge/freezers, cookware, spare parts and also servicing for AGA cookers. Garton King has been installing AGA cookers since they arrived in Britain from Scandinavia nearly 80 years ago & has been trading since 1661.We specialise in AGA cookers but also supply other luxury kitchen appliances such as Rangemaster, Falcon, Mercury, Bertazzoni and Lacanche cookers to the public. We cover the South-West of England.

We have 2 business sites in Exeter; the main showroom is based at Darts Farm near Exeter and our office, warehouse and spares department is close to Exeter Airport on the outskirts of the city. This role will be based out of the warehouse near Exeter Airport but will involve regular day to day travel throughout the South West assisting our senior engineers.

Duties - t

his role will involve all of the below duties, but other duties will arise as the job and the applicant progresses. Please note that we require a flexible individual with initiative who is prepared for varied work as directed by the management.

Assisting our engineers with cooker deliveries, installations and repair/service work. The work involves extensive but safe and supervised team/dual lifting and manoeuvring of heavy objects e.g. cookers and cast iron components.

Driving one of our vans in between our 2 sites delivering business items and stock or delivering items to customers.

Delivery of cookers/spares to our Cornwall based engineers.

Scrap metal control and disposal at scrap merchants.

Customer liaison in the customer's house during deliveries and installation.

Customer service & selling at our warehouse location both face to face and also over the telephone.

Processing AGA and other deliveries of cookers, spare parts, enamel etc. Basic knowledge of Excel & Outlook (e-mail) would be helpful.

Liaising with customers & our service team mainly via e-mail with regard to spare parts etc.

General cleaning and tidying of warehouse and company vans.

Carrying out basic vehicle checks with regard to upkeep of company vans.

Internal & external building maintenance & DIY e.g. painting, changing light bulbs, simple carpentry (putting up shelves etc.)

Working Hours

Full Time - Permanent

40 Hours - Monday-Friday 8.30am - 5pm (early starts, late finished may sometimes be required when doing long distance work)

Requirements

Essential

Valid and clean UK driving license - ideally with own transport to and from our warehouse.

Confident van driver - the position involves driving to and from Cornwall several days per week. Driving occasionally shared during team deliveries.

This job involves manual labour and some heavy lifting. Someone strong and practical is required.

Professional manner, keen, helpful, industrious, flexible and willing to learn.

Presentable and able to communicate clearly with customers and other staff members. Team work is important.

Willingness to commit long term - reliable and available to work 5 days per week.

Basic office experience - scanning use of printers, knowledge of Microsoft Office (e-mail) & Excel (entering information into spreadsheets)

Desired

Electrical experience (competent at electrical work)

Experience with long distance driving (2-3 hours per journey)

Manual labour and heavy lifting experience - on the job training will be given by senior engineers

Fork Lift Licence (not essential)
