Have you previously mentored new engineers or apprentices and find it fulfilling?

If you have answered yes to the above then you should consider bringing your knowledge and skills to In-Comm Training and Business Services and help train tomorrow's engineers.

We are seeking someone with good industry knowledge to join our team at our Telford Academy. If you are already a trained tutor who has recent industry knowledge we would be keen to hear from you also.

Role Purpose



The Tutor is responsible for managing a caseload of work-based learners, providing tailored support to facilitate their academic and professional development. This role involves delivering high-quality teaching, conducting assessments, and ensuring learners achieve their qualifications in a timely manner. The Tutor will also contribute to the recruitment process, uphold academic standards, and engage in scholarly activities to enhance the overall student experience.

Main Duties



Assessment & Delivery

Develop and deliver resources and teaching materials for the engineering syllabus to meet course frameworks and learning outcomes with a specific focus on mathematics, engineering mechanical principles and Computer Aided Design. Develop assessments to measure accurately student's performance and understanding, whilst following regulations and verification procedures. Set, mark and assess students' work, ensuring that learning outcomes have been met and that feedback is both detailed and constructive. Carry out progress reviews ensuring all parties are involved. Manage and maintain learner files in line with audit requirements. Liaise with other tutors to ensure that the learners' needs are met. Ensure a full embedding of maths and English are incorporated into their learning to continually enhance the individual's progression. Ensure a full embedding of all equal opportunities, safeguarding and Health & Safety requirement are complied with and all learners are given fair access to assessment.
Service Provision

Design, review and adapt module and unit content in response to employer and student feedback and need, with a view to improving progression. Collaborate with Business Development Advisors and Employers to identify, develop and deliver bespoke training requirements. Engage with quality assurance to ensure that organisational standards are met. Collaborate with colleagues on subject/programme development and delivery to ensure that all programmes remain current and relevant.
Coaching & Mentoring

Tutor/Lecturers will systematically review their learners through coaching and mentoring, if there are issues affecting the learners' achievement and/or progression it is the responsibility of the advisor to report these issues to centre lead/management. Refer learners to other sources of information where needed.
Sales & Marketing

Promote all products and services offered by In-Comm with employers including encouragement of progression routes.
Communications

To actively participate in sector meetings and weekly academy update meetings to ensure that channels of communication are open utilising the sector/academy meeting agenda.
Development

Assist with development of the provision to ensure programmes and materials are up to date. Participate in and support the annual self-assessment process. Maintain annual record of your own CPD.
Additional duties associated with the role

Fire Warden
1 day course to train you in the key roles and responsibilities of a fire warden and to understand the workplace risks so as to be able to make arrangements to eliminate these

Qualifications



Essential:

GCSE Grade 4 or above in English

GCSE Grade 7 or above in Maths

Level 3 Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent

Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (training can be provided)

Level 3 Award in Education and Training (training can be provided)

Experience



Essential:

Proven industry experience in engineering and CAD

Knowledge



Essential:

Knowledge of machining techniques and CAD

Knowledge of engineering mathematics and mechanical principles

Desirable:

Knowledge of CNC machining

Skills



Essential:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse teams and stakeholders

Skilled in delivering presentations, training sessions and workshops (training can be given)

Ability to challenge constructively and promote best practice within the organisation

Able to remain composed and solution-focussed under pressure
