At our UK Head Office and Selling Unit in Elland, West Yorkshire, we are now looking for a qualified and experienced

Engineering Lead.

Purpose:

As a key technical contributor, the Engineering Leader will support both maintenance activities and process development initiatives on the shopfloor.

This hands-on role is ideal for an ambitious engineer looking to grow into a senior engineering leadership position by progressively taking on greater responsibility in

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintenance Support & Coordination

Perform routine inspections, fault diagnosis, and minor repairs on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. Assist in developing and implementing planned and reactive maintenance schedules. Collaborate with external contractors and service providers to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure compliance with RAMS and HSE standards. Maintain accurate maintenance records and support tracking of key KPIs such as downtime, MTTR, and PM compliance.

2. Process Development & Optimisation

Support the analysis and improvement of key fabrication processes (e.g., slitting, skiving, joining, punching). Contribute to the implementation of Lean improvements and standardisation efforts to reduce variation and improve efficiency. Lead or assist in the design, trial, and feedback gathering for tools, jigs, and fixtures to reduce setup time and improve consistency.

3. Technical Documentation & Standardisation

Assist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and checklists, under guidance from technical and fabrication leaders. Collaborate with the global Performance Excellence organisation to document best practices and update process flows for new or enhanced operations.

4. Shop floor Optimisation & Equipment Projects

Support the installation, commissioning, and integration of new or upgraded capital equipment. Assist project leads in implementing shopfloor layout changes linked to process improvements or new equipment introduction, ensuring alignment with production needs and flow.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate closely with production, quality, and technical teams to ensure efficient manufacturability and high product quality. Support trials and the industrialisation of new belt types, joining methods, or materials to meet evolving customer needs.
