We are looking for an Engineering Lead to join our dedicated engineering team.
The successful applicant will work with the Railway Mechanical Engineer to lead the engineering team and a host of multi-skilled volunteers.
The Engineering Lead is jointly (along with the GM operations) responsible for the health and safety of the Engineering Department, ensuring compliance with the Safety Management System and relevant legislation.
This position is a flexible position which includes office-based work as well as hands on engineering duties.

Duties
Maintenance
Work with the team to inspect, maintain, and overhaul the locomotives, rolling stock, permanent way, plant machinery, and infrastructure is performed in a timely fashion.
Organise job planning and work allocation to staff and volunteers that meets the priorities of the Engineering Department.
Ensure asset records and maintenance schedules are kept up to date.
Ensure all expenditure is accounted for and within the Engineering department budget in conjunction with the General Manager Operations.
Health and Safety compliance of Engineering activities within the companies Safety Management System and the law.
Ensure an appropriate safety culture amongst staff, volunteers and contractors.
Ensure the SMS is kept up to date with any engineering changes and documentation is stored correctly.
Experience
Leadership of workshop, track/outdoor and electrical/S & T staff (including apprentices) and volunteers.
Motivation of team, time management and ensuring adequate cover when needed.
Work closely with the GM Operations to support and develop staff and volunteers within the Engineering Department, fostering positive working relationships
Must hold an appropriate engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
