Position Summary:
As an Engineering / Maintenance Assistant, you'll be a key part of the crew, responsible for general maintenance, servicing and safe boat operations. This is a dynamic, hands-on role suited to someone friendly, hardworking, and ready to work in a unique environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with planned and reactive maintenance tasks, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical work.
Support engineers in repairs and upkeep of equipment, machinery, and infrastructure.
Carry out routine checks and inspections, reporting faults or potential issues promptly.
Help maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure tools, equipment, and supplies are stored safely and correctly.
Maintain cleanliness and safety in workshops, engine rooms, and work areas.
Assist with installation and removal of equipment or fixtures as required.
Comply with all health and safety regulations and site-specific procedures.
Respond to urgent maintenance requests quickly and efficiently.
Crewing duties when required.
Essential Skills & Requirements
Good practical and problem-solving skills.
Some experience in a maintenance, engineering services role (or willingness to learn).
Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative.
Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
Physically fit and able to work at heights or in confined spaces if needed.
Full UK driving licence (if required for the role).
Desirable (but not essential)
Recognised qualifications in a relevant trade (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds).
Experience working in a marine, hospitality, leisure, or transport setting.
Awareness of health & safety legislation (COSHH, COSWP, etc.).
