We are seeking an empathetic Engineering Manager to lead and develop a team of talented software engineers. Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 6-10 software engineers, providing regular feedback and career guidance.
Conduct 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and development planning sessions to support individual growth.
Foster inclusive team culture that values diverse perspectives, psychological safety, and continuous learning.
Partner with Product Managers to define roadmaps, prioritise work, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
Oversee sprint planning, delivery execution, and retrospectives to maintain team velocity and quality.
Remove blockers and create conditions for team success through effective resource allocation and stakeholder management.
Recruit, interview, and onboard exceptional engineering talent aligned with team needs and company values.
Set clear expectations, define success metrics, and hold team accountable for delivery and quality standards.
Drive technical excellence through code review standards, testing practices, and architecture improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to align on dependencies, timelines, and integration points.
Advocate for team needs, communicate progress transparently, and escalate risks proactively to leadership.
Promote engineering best practices, knowledge sharing, and technical innovation within the team.
Requirements
7+ years in software engineering with 2+ years in engineering management or technical leadership roles.
Proven track record building, leading, and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
Strong technical background with hands-on software development experience (able to review code and guide technical decisions).
Excellent people management skills including coaching, feedback delivery, and conflict resolution.
Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and leading teams through sprint ceremonies.
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, quality practices, and delivery metrics.
Demonstrated ability to balance technical priorities with business objectives and team wellbeing.
Track record of developing engineers' careers and building talent pipelines through effective recruitment.
Excellent communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders and advocate for team needs.
Experience managing remote or distributed teams is highly desirable.
Strong emotional intelligence with commitment to building inclusive, supportive team environments.
Understanding of modern development practices including CI/CD, testing automation, and DevOps principles.
Lead a team that builds innovative products while growing careers and fostering engineering excellence.
