Responsibilities
What You'll Be Doing

  • As an Engineering Manager, you will oversee all engineering operations within the garage, ensuring that our buses meet TfL's operational requirements with maximum reliability and performance. Your role will be a mix of planned maintenance and dynamic problem-solving, requiring you to make critical decisions across a broad range of areas, including:
  • Technical & Engineering Solutions - Diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Team Leadership & Staff Development - Managing, motivating, and leading a skilled team of engineers and technicians.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance - Ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations and engineering standards.
  • Stock & Budget Control - Managing resources effectively to optimize performance and cost efficiency.
  • Innovation & Emerging Technologies - Staying ahead of industry advancements, including emission control systems, diesel-electric hybrids, and electric vehicles.
Qualifications
What We're Looking For
  • Proven leadership experience in an engineering management role.
  • Strong technical expertise in bus engineering and maintenance, with a keen interest in emerging vehicle technologies.
  • A solid understanding of health & safety protocols, with a willingness to obtain the NEBOSH General Certificate if not already held.
  • Membership with IRTE (or an equivalent professional qualification).
  • A Transport Manager CPC (or ability to obtain one).
  • The ability to lead, inspire, and drive performance in a fast-paced operational environment.
